A note to say hi

Hey tumblr, I’m Robert (you can call me Bobby if you like), and from now on, I will be co-running this blog with Maria. I am 16 years old, from Cambridge, England, and am an aspiring journalist. I have experience with ESPN and the Press Association (the English version of Associated Press), and have been published by both. I have loved travelling all my life, wherever and whenever, I love to travel and see the world. This probably stems from my foreign roots; I have French, Spanish, and Arab influences on my family. When I was younger I used to travel to France a lot, all the different parts, and France is probably my favourite place to spend time. I also visited Italy and Spain, and explored some of the rural areas in these beautiful Mediterranean countries. I have also been lucky enough to visit the United States, which opened my eyes to a different kind of travel, as the US was so different to England. The Middle East was also an interesting and beautiful land which i discovered when I visited there, a land like no other. I am very lucky to have experienced so many different cultures, and I hope to be able to share my experiences here with you on this blog.

What a view from our apartment, huh.

Wow, it’s sure been a while since I last posted anything on here, mainly because since I returned from Holland in August I haven’t really been anywhere particularly notable. Right now, however, I find myself on the tail end of a very long car journey from my town in England to Avoriaz, France. We’re currently driving through a valley, surrounded by snow-kissed peaks and low-hung clouds that make me feel very small indeed. Armed with a map and a (perhaps unnecessarily large) suitcase I’m all set for a week here, and the sleet may dampen my jacket but not my spirit. I hope to have pictures up soon, bonne journée à tous!

And my journey has come to an end

Today is the 21st and I am back in England after a very long day of travelling. I’ll be posting more pictures of my trip, but my next journey begins on Saturday (24th Aug.) as I head to… Holland!

Clay monster at Praia dos Carneiros.
Today we were picked up from the hotel early and took a boat down the river, stopping first to take a ‘clay bath’.

I was wondering where the sun went at night… Then it dawned on me.
There’s your bad pun for the day, good morning :)
Today is my last day in Japaratinga and I woke up at four for some unknown reason so I decided to watch the sunrise. It was beautiful, and I’m now having a lovely time sitting a few metres from the ocean listening to music with the sound of the sea in the background..

Maragogi
09/08/13
Ended up having to wait for an hour for the tide to be low enough to make the trip to the natural pools of Maragogi possible but it was worth it. At this beautiful place I got to scuba dive, snorkel and bake in the sun. I got a disc of photos taken underwater from the dive but I’ll have to wait until I return to Brasilia to upload them.

Looks like a good day!
A little bit of cheating since this photo is from two days ago, but today we’re going to Maragogi and it’s beautiful and I’m very much looking forward to it.

Now I am not one to refuse strange looking food but these things have topped the list of Ugliest Things I Have Eaten.
